But this month the distance won’t seem so loin
The Honolulu Academy of Arts is hosting Cinémathèque Française, a film festival of sorts featuring premieres of French films paired with French food and music.
The festival kicks off on May 19 with the screening of “Le Skylab” and an elegant French buffet by EAT Honolulu, French wine from R. Field Wine Co. and music by Pierre Grill.
Dinner starts at 6 p.m., with a menu featuring salad niçoise, gratin dauphinois, roasted local vegetale ratatouille, pork blanquette, fresh Hawaiian fish with orange pimento sauce, and French strawberry tartlets. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. at the intimate Doris Duke Theatre.
Tickets for the first showing should be purchased online in advance by noon on May 18. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on Saturday starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $15, $12 for museum members.
