There’s been news about the possible construction of a high-end hotel at the foot of Shanghai’s Tianmashan a few years ago, but its official that the development has commenced with developers who have invested $555 million for the Shangai Shimao Wonderland, not to mention by the time the full construction is done the price might even be higher. The Intercontinental Shimao Shangai Wonderland will be a very spacious theme park with 428,000 square-meters, along with a 19 story hotel, but get this only three floors will be above ground, leaving the rest of the hotel to descend into the pit. Can we say “impressive?”

The main highlights of this property will be the underwater restaurant, a 10-meter deep aquarium and an athletic complex specifically for water sports, which will be on the lowest two levels. But that’s not all, an enormous 60-meter tall curtain made of glass that resembles a waterfall, along with adjoining cliffs for guests who enjoy rock climbing and bungee jumping, all to be constructed in a 100-meter-deep pit by Shanghai Simao Property Group. Many can look forward to spending the holidays in 2014-2015 enjoying this impressive wonderland, with rooms starting at $320 per night.
