Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan will attend the grand opening celebration of the new Malibu Library along with a Earth Day celebration on April 22 as a special guest with Dick Van Dyke. The City of Malibu is combining the two exciting events on one day, which are free to the public.

Celebrating the highly anticipated opening of the Malibu Library along with an event-packed Earth Day Festival, the City of Malibu is welcoming the public to attend the free events that will include a dedication ceremony from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 23519 West Civic Center Way and special guest appearances by Brosnan and Van Dyke at 11 a.m.

The new LEED-certified library has undergone a $6 million renovation and represents Malibu’s role in environmental preservation. The grand opening event will feature live music, entertainment, local authors, children’s activities, story time and interactive exhibits, including a showcase of several typewriters previously owned by John Lennon, Ernest Hemmingway, and Andy Rooney, among others.

Following the library’s grand opening, the Earth Day Festival will get underway from noon to 3 p.m at Legacy Park, which is ideally located across from the new library. The festival will include a native plant sale, a smart gardening workshop, educational booths, park tours, animals, a hike to Malibu Lagoon, food vendors and more.
