Mess Hall Opening August in Los Feliz

This August, a new concept restaurant called Mess Hall will open in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood. To show future guests just how good this restaurant will be, Mess Hall showed up at Short Order last Friday for a preview via Test Kitchen. Mess Hall Chef Keith Silverton concocted the four-course menu, while beverage specialists Julian Cox and Josh Goldman served luscious cocktails at the bar.

Silverton’s preview menu featured traditional dishes with a contemporary twist, like the beef tartar served in a shell of crisped Parmesan with a side of pickled peppers. The standout plate of the evening was the very savory and perfectly seasoned “hog chop” with butter and paired with cheddar grits and tangy mustard greens.

At the bar, Cox and Goldman mixed complex and herbal beverages, like The Glass Kisser – Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon, apple three ways and mint or the Under the Boardwalk – Tequila Ocho, aromatics and oyster leaf.

Tune in for the opening of Mess Hall, you won’t want to Mess it!
