Haute Event: Cafe Un Deux Trois Celebrates 35th Anniversary

On the evening April 1st, legendary French restaurant Café Un Deux Trois, which opened its doors in April of 1977 , celebrated its 35th anniversary. A partnership of George Guenancia and Gerard Blanes, Café Un Deux Trois is rich in history and was the hot spot to be seen at on Sunday evening.

New York’s finest fashion, theater and entertainment patrons came out for the restaurant’s milestone anniversary, which benefited the charity Broadway Equity Fights Aids. Guests at the scrumptious soiree dined on delicious entrees from the original 1977 menu, for the 1977 prices and complimentary champagne.

Building up to the main event, the Parisian hot spot had been featuring “decades” inspired menus to celebrate. In January, the Café paid homage to the 70s Disco clientele requests from Studio 54 serving Harvey Wallbanger and Tequila Sunrises for brunch with granola, eggs benedict in crepes and classic side dishes of faro, barley, spelt and quinoa. In February, Café Un Deux celebrated the 1980s and the commencement of Nouvelle Cuisine with vertical food stacks, small plates and raw fish with French sauce. March paid tribute to the 1990s including dishes from Provence and highlighted the Mediterranean trend of lavender, rosemary and prosciutto.

This month Café Un Deux will offer the new millenniums own trends. Executive chef Luis Gonzales blends his de rigueur restaurant training creating treasured special recipes, freshest haute gourmet organic ingredients and serving original cuisine that is found in a typical Parisian style brasserie.

The decor, designed by Pierre Hittier, is classic world class French restaurant style with original detailed mosaic flooring, globe lighting fixtures, four magnificent Ionic, Corinthian and Composite order columns, three Hungarian artisan crystal chandeliers, cozy deep seated leather banquettes and 18 ft. glass windows.
