The second installment of Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2012 Collection headed to Shanghai, China with a spectacular runway show. Inspired by Fifties silhouettes and shapes, the Spring/Summer 2012 Collection features ball gowns, pleated skirts and delicate bead work.

Sidney Toledano, Dior’s president and chief executive, said, “It’s a very exciting time. I always said that the right person would come along when all the stars aligned and that’s exactly what happened last week. Simons has already begun to lay out his vision for where he can take Dior I the future and I think we are all very excited by that vision.”

The looks shown in Shanghai were similar to those seen in Paris back in January however this was the final opportunity for buyers to place their orders on the collection. As Bill Gaytten’s final bow, the show was an elegant transition for Dior into the future with new artistic director Simmons to take the reins.
