“Ghost” Floats Onto The Great White Way

“Ghost,” based on the 1990 film starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, haunts Broadway on April 23, when the apparition-meets-girl romance opens at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Directed by Mathew Warchus, London stars Cassie Levy and Richard Fleeshman renew their roles as Molly and Sam, joined by Bryce Pinkham and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Carl Bruner and Oda Mae Brown.

“Ghost” follows the story of a young couple, Sam and Molly who get mugged while walking home to their New York apartment.  Sam gets murdered in the mugging, and enters a purgatory like state where he is a ghost trapped in this world.  He is incapable of leaving Molly, who he learns is in grave danger.  So, through a psychic he tries to communicate and protect her.  And help her design clay pottery in an iconic scene.

Clay and all, the anticipated Broadway adaption features a star-studded guest list scheduled to include Martina Mcbride, Simon Fuller, Regis and Joy Philbin, Gina Gershon, Lucy Liu, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Liza Minnelli, David Hyde Pierce, Kristin Chenoweth, Christine Lahti, Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle, Bobby Cannavale, Hope Davis, Nina Arianda, Constantine Maroulis, Debbie Allen, Lin-Manuel Miranda and more.
