Synonymous with Italian elegance and impeccable tailoring, Brunello Cucinello’s collections continuously excel through the use of simple yet sophisticated lines and subdued earth shades. Available at Harvey Nichols Dubai, where the brand has also set up their own Men’s Corner for bespoke tailoring, we caught up with the brand’s Fabio Gnocchi and Edoardo Simone regarding the brand’s history, Men’s Spring and Summer Collection and Cucinelli’s Dubai presence.
Brunello Cucinelli founded his company in 1978 to produce women’s cashmere sweaters setting up a base in a 14th century castle in Umbria in the Medieval village of Solomeo near his home town of Perugia. Using the finest silk and cashmere, he transformed the cashmere knitwear industry with innovative and boldly coloured sweaters. Cucinelli focused on providing light, two-ply cashmere sweaters that were light enough to be worn in the office and at home. As Gnocchi and Simone stated, the popularity of the brand’s Women’s and Men’s Collection caused Cucinelli to expand internationally. “In 2011 we closed the year with 59 stores worldwide with around 30 of them opening in the last four years,” asserts Simone. “The Middle East is a strong market for us. In our other stores located in Milan, St. Tropez and Paris, among others, we have many Middle Eastern clients who buy our products and appreciate our fine craftsmanship.”
Brunello Cucinello’s Men’s Corner at Harvey Nichols offers a chance for client’s to appreciate and have access to Cucinelli’s lifestyle. “We offer products here all Made in Italy as well as bespoke men’s tailoring catering to the client in artisanal way,” says Gnocchi. “We want to introduce clients in Dubai to the special details such as particular pockets and stitching only available through Brunello Cucinelli.”
A wonderful addition to the very few fine men’s tailors that are found in Dubai, Brunello Cucinelli’s new Men’s Corner offers a chance the beauty and simplicity of the Cucinelli brand. Be sure to check out the Men’s Spring and Summer Collection dominated by soft creams, light grays and gentle browns on pants and light coats as well as safari jackets and parkas.
