On March 30 and 31, Whitespace, The Mordes Collection in West Palm Beach will unveil an outdoor show of multimedia installations at their private collector space. Elayne and Marvin Mordes’ gallery already features 7,500 square feet of space dedicated to contemporary art and at the end of the month they will expand into their outdoor space with a two-night site-specific show.

Curated by Sibel Kocabasi, “Outside the Box” will feature 22 artists exhibiting in a two-night outdoor show of multimedia installations at Whitespace, The Mordes Collection in West Palm Beach. The show will take place from 7:30pm – 11 p.m. both days and will feature unique installations like Hanne Niederhausen’s made completely from books, Jade Henderson’s wavelike artwork that will emerge from the lake behind the gallery and TD Gillispie’s house that guests can walk into on the gallery’s lawn.

“That’s what Whitespace is about – engaging the community in conversations about contemporary art. That means all kinds of art,” said Elayne Mordes.

Many of the artists taking part in the outdoor show are Palm Beach County locals and the pieces they create are being done at the artist’s own expense.

Kocabasi said, “We don’t have many things like this happening around here. There are a lot of great artists living in Palm Beach County. This is a good opportunity for them to get their work out.” She also believes it’s a great chance for artists like herself to experiment with various ways of making art.

The Mordes opened their private art collection to the public four years ago and started exhibiting curated displays three years ago. Their gallery, Whitespace, will remain open during the outdoor show, which will feature selections from their collection and additional temporary pieces.

Whitespace, The Mordes Collection is located at 2805 N. Australian Ave. in West Palm Beach.
