Sony Ericsson Open: Novak Djokovic Sounds Off on his Greatest Achievements, Being in Miami and his Soaring Career

On his Serbian roots and how they have shaped the player he is today:

“I discovered the great desire for success, and to become one of the world’s best tennis players. And this very strong mentality is something that I think separates people from that region from any other.”

On being in Miami:

“I think Miami is a very entertaining city, very multidimensional and you see a lot of people from different parts of the world coming here to support their tennis players. And then, of course, [there’s] the weather. There’s a lot of enjoyment to be found in Miami outside of tennis.”

On the Sony Ericsson Open:

“I am here to fight for the title, just like any other player. I prefer to be considered to be a player that chases the title instead of waiting for it to come to me.”

On the Olympics:

“The Olympics is at the top of my priority list, and I am really looking forward to that experience. The Olympic games are the most prestigious and the most important event in the history of the sport. I had the privilege to represent my country in 2008 in Beijing, and I met all of these top athletes. For me, that was an incredible experience, even more than playing in the tournament. It is just a different experience.”

On his greatest achievement:

“I always had a goal and dream to win Wimbledon, and I achieved that and so it was quite a remarkable experience and achievement.”
