Ballet’s Finest Take Stage at the Mariinsky Ballet Festival

The A-list of the ballet world will descend on St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theater for the 12th International Mariinsky Ballet Festival from March 22 to April 1.  Dancers from the Bolshoi Theater, London Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, the Wiener Staatsoper, Het Nationale Ballet and the Bejart Ballet will all be in attendance performing classical ballets.

Kicking things off on March 22, is Roland Petit’s 1946 classic, “Le Jeune Homme et la Mort,” (“The Young Man and Death”).  The Mariinsky’s own ballerina, Uliana Lopatkina will star in the show.

The festival is unique because it blends both Western and Eastern ballet companies performing Russian and foreign performances in one place.  The Mariinsky Theater is highly renowned the ballet world, so performing there is an honor for any dancer.
