Renovations Transform Yountville’s North Block Hotel

A refreshed lobby and new restaurant are headlining features in a re-branding project that has turned Yountville’s former Hotel Luca into the new North Block Hotel. The 20-room property on the north side of downtown will complete its transformation later this spring, with the debut of the on-site North Block Spa.

Erin Martin of Erin Martin Design in St. Helena oversaw updates to the North Block Hotel’s entrance space. Her contemporary, industrial-inspired approach led to cozy, cushy seating arranged around a large fireplace, and a suspended reception desk set against charcoal-colored walls. Stone walkways lined with lemon trees lead past an outdoor fireplace area toward guest rooms that feature private patios and balconies, custom bedding, flat-screen televisions and glass rainshowers. Some rooms also have gas fireplaces and double sinks. A heated outdoor pool lets guests make the most of the region’s sunny afternoons, as well.

The hotel project also includes the introduction of Redd Wood, a casual restaurant by Chef Richard Reddington. His wine list focuses on local blends, and the menu presents a selection of pastas, pizzas and charcuterie that changes daily. Reddington is known for his Michelin-starred Redd, also in Yountville.

North Block Hotel invites guests to celebrate its opening with the North Block VIP Wine Package, available through June 30, 2012. The package includes a bottle of wine at check in, a complimentary VIP wine tasting for two at Girard Winery, and a room category upgrade (based on availability). Package rates start at $315 (Sundays through Thursdays) and $380 (Fridays and Saturdays).
