Haute Event: Skrillex Helps XS Celebrate Its Three-Year Anniversary

Skrillex performs at the three-year anniversary of XS Nightclub.

Last night, the Las Vegas Strip was all abuzz for the XS Nightclub three-year anniversary party featuring Grammy Award nominee Skrillex at Encore Las Vegas. The 40,000-square-foot venue was packed wall to wall with the city’s nightlife industry elite, dance music mega-fans, celebrities and close friends and partners of the club.

Just before 1 a.m., the XS management team was presented with a massive cake embellished in gold, the nightclub’s signature color, with an iconic number three as the cake topper. The group, consisting of co-owner and managing partner Jesse Waits, director of strategic marketing Ronn Nicolli, general manager Brian Affronti, general manager Yannick Mugnier, executive director of VIP services John Wood and assistant general manager Eric White snapped a few photos to celebrate this significant moment in their careers. The team, which has been together since opening on New Year’s Eve 2009, were quickly joined by electronic dance music’s breakout star of the year Skrillex as he jumped in for some shots and posed taking a bite into the dessert.

Skrillex immediately kicked off his set, leaping into the booth and launching with his recent revolutionary collaboration with The Doors, “Breakn’ A Sweat.” The dance floor was flooded with fists pumping, glow sticks waving, girls sitting on shoulders in attempt to grab a quality photo, the combination of which quickly started to resemble an ocean wave, going back and forth toward the superstar who acted as master of ceremonies, the club goers reacting to his every move, pulsating to his beats in unison.

Recognizable faces in the VIP area ranged from “The Hills” reality star Brody Jenner to Dennis Haskins, best known as Mr. Belding in “Saved by the Bell.” An unlikely duo, Haskins was spotted snapping photos on his phone of Skrillex and telling fans, “This guy is REALLY incredible!”

The celebration went well into the early hours of the morning with countless reasons for toasts and cheers. Since opening, XS has been continually recognized with awards and accolades including MTV News recently dubbing the venue as “Las Vegas’ dance music mecca.” Known as the top grossing nightclub in the country, XS has placed in the number one spot for the Nightclub & Bar Top 100 in both 2010 and 2011, based on annual revenue.

“The past year has been a monumental experience for XS, as we have launched into major partnerships with electronic music artists,” said Jesse Waits, co-owner and managing partner of XS and Tryst nightclubs. “As our venue celebrates continued success, we are more than thrilled to host our resident DJ and recent Grammy Award nominee, Skrillex, at this special night in XS history.”
