This summer a record gathering of Ferrari F40s will take place at the Silverstone race track in the U.K. to celebrate the 25th birthday of the luxury sports car. F40 owners from around the world will head to the British race track along with their cars for the Silverstone Classic.

Taking place between July 20 and 22, 2012, the Silverstone Classic will celebrate 25 years of the Ferrari F40. Record numbers of the luxurious sports car are expected to descend upon the British race track, as owners from around the world celebrate their beautiful vehicles.

In 2007, Ferrari held a similar event to celebrate the F40s 20th birthday where a total of 40 F40s were present. The Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain expects to beat that number this year for the 25th birthday celebrations over the summer.

Nigel Hunt, the Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain’s club coordinator and a F40 owner himself, said, “Our original aim was to get at least 25 of these Ferraris together and, as I have contacted owners, I have been gratified that so many want to be part of the celebration – so much so that we now have more than 50 F40s registered for the event with more still to come!”

The Ferrari F40 was first introduced in 1987 to honor Ferrari’s 40tha anniversary. It is a mid-engine model and was created as the final vehicle commissioned by founder Enzo Ferrari.
