Rodarte Collection On Display At LACMA

Early in 2011, Kate and Laura Mulleavy—the designers behind Rodarte—debuted their “Fra Angelico Collection” in Florence, Italy. Through Feb. 5, the collection—inspired by Italian Renaissance paintings— will be on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Fittingly presented in the museum’s Italian Renaissance gallery, the collection features signature Rodarte details, such as draped silk fabrics and custom-made silk flowers. The designers utilized materials, such as feathers, sequins and Swarovski Elements, and incorporated gold metallic accessories—including a headpiece and breastplate—to complete the dramatic looks of several of the gowns.
