Marina Monroe’s Picks For The Best Dressed At The Golden Globes

It was nearly impossible for me to pick a best dressed at the Golden Globes last night! So many attendees looked AMAZING in their gowns- so I decided to pick the best in each trend category instead! Enjoy!

  • Neutrals

Nude was clearly the trend of the night at the Globes! I love how the black lace belt on Sarah Hyland’s dress breaks up the nude lace and cinches her waist (this is an important thing to consider when choosing a monochromatic look). I also love the way Heidi Klum added in the turquoise necklace to give her dress a pop of color!

Sarah Hyland: Dolce & Gabbana, Kate Beckinsale: Roberto Cavalli, Jessica Biel: Elie Saab Couture.

Heidi Klum: Calvin Klein, Piper Perabo: Oliver Theyskens, Charlize Theron: Dior Couture.

  • Pops of Color

In the sea of neutrals (I’ve heard there were 16 total!) it was always nice to see a pop of color!

Evan Rachel Wood’s peacock dress was truly a work of art and embraced the feather trend we’ve been seeing a lot of on the red carpet lately, while Sofia Vergara’s chic choice definitely made her a top contender for best dressed of the evening! I also love Maria Menounos in yellow- the dress was absolutely made for her and fit her like a glove. Last but not least, Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s dress was a gorgeous teal color and I love the Grecian-inspired bodice.

Evan Rachel Wood: Gucci Premiere, Maria Menounous: Blumarine, Sofia Vergara: Vera Wang, Jenna Dewan: Maria Lucia Hohan.

  • Reds

Emma Stone was my pick for best dressed in this AMAZING burgundy and red gown. I love the way she belted it with an edgy silver and black belt to break up the color and define her figure. The color is absolutely perfect for her fair skin and auburn hair as well! Reese Witherspoon was another contender for best dressed and with her figure hugging gown and beachy hair, it’s not hard to figure out why! Viola Davis also looked chic in her burgundy, Grecian-inspired dress that perfectly accentuated her toned shoulders and arms!

Emma Stone: Lanvin, Reese Witherspoon: Zac Posen, Viola Davis: Emilio Pucci.

  • Embellished

It’s no secret that stars love their bling, and for the 2012 Golden Globes, this extended itself to dresses as well! Nicole Kidman’s studded dress perfectly flattered her figure and I died over Selma Hayek’s embellished bodice and sequined skirt. Marchesa designer Georgina Champan’s look was perfection- exactly what I would envision boho-glam to look like!

Nicole Kidman: Versace, Selma Hayek: Gucci, Georgina Chapman: Marchesa.

  • Metallics

Nicole Richie stunned in this art-deco inspired gown and her ponytail, House of Harlow clutch, and piled on diamond jewelry perfectly complimented her look! Lea Michele also looked amazing in her unique gown- I love the way her green cocktail ring subtly compliments the peacock feathers on her dress!

Nicole Richie: Julien Macdonald, Lea Michele: Marchesa.

  • Black & White

Black and white is always a go-to, chic combination and the Golden Globes last night were no exception! Claire Danes looked beyond amazing in her backless gown, while Sharon Osbourne made a perfect choice with this floral number which she accented with custom crystallized pink YSL pumps from stylehaüs!

Claire Danes: J. Mendel, Sharon Osbourne: Naeem Khan.
