It’s safe to say that Jay-Z is having a good month. The rap superstar, along with his equally talented wife Beyoncé, became a parent to Blue Ivy Carter, debuted his song for his baby to great fanfare, and, reopened the NYC installment of his 40/40 club–after inputting $10 million in renovations. Ok, let’s say he’s have a great month.
The beautifully restored two-tier club, on 25th and Broadway, was unveiled with a big soiree last night. Jay-Z’s celebrity studded circle came out for the party. Notable attendees included: Spike Lee, super models Selita Ebanks and Jessica White, Russell Simmons, New York Yankee CC Sabathia, Detroit Lion Ndamukong Suh, rapper Fabolous, music producers Rico Love and Swizz Beatz, R&B singer Ashanti, New York Knicks Mike Bibby and Tyson Chandler, and–proving Jay has friends in high places from all walks of life–Warren Buffett enjoyed a private table and posed throwing the ROC symbol in the air.
Haute Living enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the club and saw some of the renovation’s highlights including: several private lounges–suitable for anything from intimate game screenings in the smaller lounges with plush couches and projector screens, to larger gatherings with multiple couches and a pool table. The grand bar is lit up and boasts specks of amber in the molding of the bar top and massive screens featuring multiple games. We went ahead and did a little taste testing and give 40/40 our enthusiastic approval for dishes like miniature chicken quesadillas, cookies and cream cheesecake, cajun hot wings, sliders of all sorts and more.
Viva la HOVA.
