As of May 24, 2013, The Miami Herald Media Company will no longer call Downtown Miami home. Instead, The Miami Herald will be situated in the heart of Doral, in a space that was formerly the headquarters for the US Southern Command HQ. The building will be renamed One Herald Plaza at Westpointe Business Park.

The company will occupy the 158,265-square-foot building, as well as an adjacent six-acre site, which will house a 119,000-square-foot production facility. Miami-based brokerage firm Blanca Commercial Real Estate represented the Herald during the transaction.

“After surveying the market and determining the factors of greatest importance to the Miami Herald Media Company, it soon became clear that Westpointe Business Park offered the perfect mix of functionality, flexibility and access. The project’s setting in the fast-growing Doral business district and close proximity to South Florida’s major expressways will enable the Miami Herald Media Company to continue to advance its mission as South Florida’s largest news source.” –Tere Blanca, Blanca Commercial Real Estate President and CEO

The Miami Herald’s new location comes equipped with backup generators, high impact bulletproof glass, an uninterrupted power supply system and plenty of parking for employees and visitors.
