38th Annual People’s Choice Awards 2012

The 38th annual People’s Choice Awards took place last night and big-name celebrities turned out to see who would be recognized as a ‘fan favorite’. Winners included Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Levine and Demi Lovato.

Although not present at the award ceremony, singer Katy Perry turned out to be the biggest winner at the People’s Choice Awards last night. Perry, who has been in the news lately due to her public separation from husband Russell Brand, won five awards after being nominated for seven. Her wins included “Favorite TV Guest Star, Favorite Song of the Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Tour Headliner and Favorite Female Artist.

Also big winners for the evening were the stars of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows who won for Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Book Adaptation and Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast. TV comedy series How I Met Your Mother won in three categories and the movie Bridesmaids won for Favorite Comedy Movie.

Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic Movie Actress went to Emma Stone, while Johnny Depp matched that with a win for Favorite Movie Actor and Favorite Animated Movie Voice.

Comedian and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Fallon were honored for their TV hosting talents while American Idol won for the nation’s Favorite Competition Show.

Other winners included Bruno Mars for Favorite Male Artists and Rihanna for Favorite R&B Artist.

The 2012 People’s Choice Awards took place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and were hosted by the Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco.
