Located on the river in Bangkok in the former Marriott Riverside spot, the new Anantara Riverside hotel has opened its doors to welcome guests.

The hotel is located down on the Thonburi side of the river where there is little traffic and the views are breathtaking. Due to its somewhat remote location, the hotel offers a free and frequent water taxi service that takes guests from the hotel to the main Sathorn/Saphan Taksin Pier downtown.

The hotel is made up of three low-rise buildings built in traditional Thai style with a large pool. The self-described urban resort also has a large foliage-surrounded hot tub, a swim-up bar, plenty of lounge chairs, lily ponds and fountains.

There are a few outdoor bars including the Longtail Bar, which is located at the entrance to the dock, allowing those waiting for the water taxi to grab a quick refreshment. For dining, the hotel has Trader Vic’s and Benihana in addition to the Italian Brio, Riverside Terrace, The Market, Numero Uno, Elephant Bar and even a Manohra Dinner Cruise.

Other key features to the Anatara Bangkok Riverside resort include 407 rooms and suites, a Club Lounge, Mandara Spa, Kids’ Club, meeting and banqueting facilities, wedding facilities, an adjoining shopping center, Jim Thomson boutique on site, cooking classes and eight nearby golf courses.

The Anantara Riverside Hotel is offering a Journey Begins package through the end of April 2012 with rooms from $125 per night, room upgrades, breakfast, Internet and discounts on the spa and dining.
