Los Angeles Chef Chris Goossen Now Executive Chef At Teqa Taqueria & Tequila Bar

New Murray Hill hotspot Teqa Taqueria & Tequila Bar has brought on renowed California based chef Chris Goossen.

Goossen brings vibrant mixing of cultures into his culinary work today. Coming from a boxing family, Goossen learned early on that pressure is an opportunity to do great things. He brings that fearlessness with him into his role as chef.

During his time at LA CULINARY INSTITUTE, Goossen was mentored by Chef Sam Marvin of Bottega Louie fame. Soon thereafter, Goossen became Executive Chef for Bottega Louie Restaurant and Gourmet Market in downtown LA. In that role, he oversaw the development and execution of a menu spanning 110 items and 397 recipes. Goossen’s time at Bottega Louie was marked by critical acclaim and continuous growth for the restaurant. When Goossen decided to part ways with the brand, it was to follow his true passion- tacos.

Mexican food, especially tacos, has been a passion of Goossen’s since an early age. Having strong ties to the Hispanic community, Goossen deeply respected its culinary traditions and sensibilities. His Knockout Taco Truck serves traditional and global tacos that satisfy lovers of Mexican food while challenging the expectations of even the most well-travelled palates. His global tacos, an idea he’s been refining for almost a decade, are engineered to celebrate the regions that inspired them while working within the boundaries of a taco shell. Eschewing the term “fusion”, Goossen instead views each taco as an experience onto itself.
