Thousands of items for the home, one-of-a-kind special gifts and holiday wreaths created by leading designers were featured in Lighthouse International’s POSH Holiday Preview Sale and Cocktails on Thursday, Dec. 8 at The Plaza Hotel. All proceeds benefited Lighthouse International, a leading nonprofit organization fighting vision loss though prevention, treatment and empowerment.

“Did you know that one in every two New Yorkers will be affected by vision issues? For me this is a personal story because my dear mother at the end of her life was nearly blind,” said spokesperson Joan Rivers. “That’s why for years Melissa and I have been involved in helping raise money for programs to promote healthy eyesight. Now you can help too, so join us and help raise money for Lighthouse International while decking your halls with boughs of holly.”

A signature feature of the preview were the stunning holiday wreathes created by such top designers as Mario Buatta, Nicole Romano, Geoffrey Bradfield, Harry Hinson, Matthew Patrick Smyth, Oskar Torres, Thomas Britt, and Zita Davidson. The sale also featured Joan Rivers’ jewelry.

Other special items that were up for grabs included a set of fine crystal glasses, Baccarat Candelabra, Robinson Sterling silver trivet and Antique linen tablecloths by D. Porthault
