Back to the Future Items Head to Auction Including DeLorean DMC-12

A collection of Back to the Future items will be sold at U.S auction house Profiles in History. Items will come from all three films and include the famed “time machine” DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future III.

At its “Icons of Hollywood” auction sale, which is set for December 5-17, Profiles in History will be auctioning off classic memorabilia from all three Back to the Future movies. Of the seven DeLoreans used on screen in the trilogy, the one being put up for auction is only one of three that have survived since filming and is the only one in private hands. It was built completely for off road use making it a unique vehicle. In the movie, this car was used in the 1955 drive-in movie scene when Michael J. Fox drives it into the past and lands in 1885 to find Doc.

After filming finished, the car remained on a back lot of Universal Studios for about 14 years, with a short time on display at the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angeles.

All of the remaining DeLoreans are still owned by Universal Studios and are typically on display at theme parks.

The DeLorean up for auction will come with a Universal Studios certificate of authenticity and an original signed Bill of Sale with the Vehicle Identification Number. It is estimated to fetch between $400,000 and $600,000.
