Abu Dhabi’s ADM Shipyards Launches 462.5-Foot Yacht

Now ranking as the world’s 6th largest yacht, Abu Dhabi’s ADM Shipyards has just launched the 462.5-foot yacht, Yas. The mega yacht’s enormous size places it just ahead of Crown Prince Sultan of Saudi Arabia’s Al Salamah and David Geffen’s Rising Sun yachts.

The yacht’s design was adapted from a UAE Navy frigate and is rumored to have been commissioned by a member of an Arabic royal family. Formally known as Swift 141, Yas features luxurious and spacious accommodations that can fit up to 60 guests and 58 crew members. Capable of 26 knots maximum, Yas’ cruising speed is 20 knots with a transoceanic range.

Interior and exterior styling was done by Paris-based Pierrejean Design. The yacht was outfitted with massive surfaces of glass and her superstructure is the largest composite object of its kind ever built. Yas also has a carbon fiber door on her tender garage, which double as a boarding/swim platform. There is also an outdoor pool/spa.

Johan Valentijn, Privinvest Executive Board member and Industrial Manager in charge of the project said, “Our international team of experts, subcontractors and suppliers has accomplished one of the greatest challenges in modern yacht building, and set in place a major milestone in shipbuilding technology and art that will be difficult to surpass.”
