A DAY IN THE LIFE :: KIMBERLY PRICE IN THE BAG

We work through each collection and review each item. We could change the color of a bag, the pattern, the type of leather, etc. We work very hard to make every bag perfect. We also talk about special collaborations.

Kimberly Price is one of the driving forces behind the marvelous designs we see from Coach, a leading American designer of luxury handbags and accessories. As the brand’s senior vice president of design management, Price oversees the day-to-day management of the women’s design team, quite a hefty task. Since her start at Coach eight years ago, Price has been shepherding the team that creates the  stunning designs that preserve Coach’s rich history of classic elegance. Price herself manages her busy days with elegance and style. The Coach design expert pauses to tell Haute Living what it’s like to be a busy career woman and mom at the top of her game.

8 AM

I get my daughter Lulu ready for school, my favorite morning ritual. I grab my Coach bag, Lulu grabs her school bag and we head out the door. Her school is right around the corner and walking her there is the best way to start my morning.

8:30 AM

I start my mornings with a green juice from a local health food place called Fuel. It is my own secret blend of vegetables and fruits and it helps start my day right. Then I hail a taxi and head to the office.

9 AM

I quickly read WWD and check some of my favorite style blogs before reviewing the day’s schedule with my assistant Alexis.

9:30 AM

Time for check-in with my direct reports. We meet in my office, or I stop by theirs and say hi. We love sharing stories about our weekends, taking trends or swooning over a pair of shoes. You’d be surprised how many great ideas come from these casual conversations.

12 PM

Lunchtime. A few colleagues and I order gluten-free meals from Greg Karnilaw. Everything he does is delicious and he uses local, organic ingredients. I catch up on emails while I eat.

1 PM

Off to “design time.” I meet with President and Executive Creative Director of Coach Reed Krakoff and the rest of the design team. We work through each collection and review each item. We could change the color of a bag, the pattern, the type of leather, etc. We work very hard to make every bag perfect. We also talk about special collaborations, such as our upcoming Tony Duquette jewelry collection.

3 PM

I head to a meeting with the product development team. More discussions about new collections, like the upcoming Willis handbag collection for spring and where we are in the development process.

6 PM

I leave work, pick up Lulu and we walk over to The Odeon, a restaurant in Tribeca that has been a local landmark for years. We’re regulars there and love having such a cozy place in the neighborhood. It’s nice mom and daughter time and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
