American designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors opened his first standalone boutique this month in Singapore, complete with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebratory soiree at Reflections at Keppel Bay. Local and regional celebrities and socialites donned Michael Kors’ signature streamlined silhouettes and mingled into the early morning hours.

The 1,670-square-foot store is situated in Scotts Square, the city’s luxurious Orchard Road shopping belt, and houses a comprehensive collection of accessories from the Michael Kors Collection and MICHAEL Michael Kors labels, as well as the latest pieces from MICHAEL Michael Kors.

The sleek, minimalist space is punctuated with modern lucite chandeliers, plush zebra rugs and vintage photographs by controversial celebrity photographer Ron Galella. The design is a similar feel to his other flagship stores in New York, Beverly Hills, Chicago, London, Milan, Paris, Munich, Seoul, Hong Kong, Dubai and Tokyo.

The Singapore opening is just the first of many as the company expands its business and retail presence throughout Asia. The Michael Kors organization has approximately 200 stores worldwide.
