Nicholas K’s Spring 2012 Collection At New York Fashion Week

One thing is for certain: Nicholas K loves layers. But instead of looking heavy or drab, designer Nicholas Kunz managed to pull off a surprisingly light airy feel with pieces that moved and breathed that looked effortlessly cool.

For his Spring 2012 collection, which included both men’s and women’s fashions, tonal whites and rich tans made a strong start. Gradually the show went darker moving from sand colored clothing, onto safari greens and blue greys and eventually closing with black.

From loose draped jersey hooded tops to tiered bias-cut dresses, it was a unique earthy meets urban vibe. The gals rocked sporty over cropped mesh leggings underneath lightweight iterations of the trenchcoats and anoraks. The men were also draped in layers, but in a stronger more intentional way.
