New York Fashion Week 2011: Vivienne Tam and Charlotte Ronson

Vivienne Tam

Vivienne Tam’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was inspired by the serene Zen gardens in Asia, in addition to the glamour of the 1970s. A collective trend seen in most S/S 2012 collections, Vivienne Tam amped up her show with the use of color, and by mixing distinct but complimentary prints. The flirtatious pieces that graced the runway included some with fringed hems, billowing sleeves, and ocean-inspired hues such as cyan and coral. Front row at the show included Mercedes Benz Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis, celebrity stylist June Ambrose, and actress Beverly Mitchell.

Charlotte Ronson

Shades of orange, denim patterns, and quirky knits are some of the trends that made their way down the runway at Charlotte Ronson, with sisters Samantha and Annabelle participating in the show. Keeping with Charlotte’s aesthetic, the pieces were free spirited and effortless. The collection had a particular organic nature that was reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. One stand out look was an ivory knit jumpsuit with a sheer midriff. With a star studded front row, some of the seats were filled by Nicky Hilton, Kelly Osbourne, Joy Bryant, Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, and Bam Margera.
