Los Angeles Could be Getting New York’s The Meatball Shop

The Meatball Shop is a 39-seat casual, counter service meatball restaurant in New York City and reports are swirling that there may be plans to open a Los Angeles location.

LA Eater is reporting that they heard rumors three months ago that New York City’s The Meatball Shop was eyeing expansion to Los Angeles. According to some reports owners Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman were even actively scouting locations. When asked to comment, Holzman denied the rumors and said, “We have no plans to open a restaurant outside of New York.”

This past weekend, however, the same rumor began to get around from different sources, so Holzman was reached for comment again. He again denied the rumors and said, “we are not even looking in LA, haven’t been to Lain 6 months, someone’s got it all mixed up.”

New York’s location of The Meatball Shop is a casual, small restaurant where diners can mix and match five different kinds of meatballs served with four different sauces on sliders ($3), or on their own. To go with the sandwiches, the restaurant also offers beer, wine, root beer on tap, various sides and build-your-own ice cream sandwiches.

All of the conflicting information begs the question, is The Meatball Shop really opening up in Los Angeles or is there some meatball concept restaurant that is in the works but not related to The Meatball Shop? Stay tuned for updates as they come.
