NFL star Tom Brady is the new face of UGG Australia Footwear. The famously good-looking quarterback – and one half of the highest-paid celebrity couple and Haute 100 Los Angeles Power Couple with supermodel Gisele Bundchen – showed up to the high-profile shoot for the campaign with his dog, an unexpected twist that ended up making its way into the ad campaign.
“And then the dog ended up being fabulous. She was well behaved, followed Tom around the entire time. and ended up being in three of the print shots we took,” said president of UGG Constance Rishwain. “It was definitely unexpected.”
The filming was a milestone for UGG Australia as it marked their first men’s campaign. Their shaggy sheepskin boots are best known for adorning the feet of women and starting a serious fashion trend.
The two-time MVP, however, has been a fan of UGG for quite some time now. He experienced his share of teammate teasing when he signed the partnership with the footwear brand in November – until Brady gave them all UGGs for Christmas.
“Once they tried them on, any thoughts of jokes stopped,” said Mr. Brady, who admits to being introduced to the line by his three sisters. He’s worn the Ascot slippers for years now and said, “The warm boots are perfect during the cold New England winters.”
The men’s line embraces a masculine, rugged vibe and Brady – handsome and able to take a hit – is the poster child for the line. Five pairs of the line are showcased in the campaign’s first commercial, which made its debut last Monday, when Brady and his New England Patriots took on the Miami Dolphins for Monday Night Football.
