International hotel chain Best Western has opened its largest property in the world in Moscow. The chain, which runs over 4,000 hotels globally, announced that the Best Western Vega Hotel & Convention Center had officially opened its doors in the historical district of Izmaylovo.
Originally built for the 1980 Olympics, it was remodeled in 2007. That massive hotel can provide accommodations for nearly 1,000 guests.
Russia’s Best Western features three restaurants and a lobby bar, including a full service Russian restaurant, a mid-scale buffet and French pastry cafe and coffee shop, as well as a fitness facility and Spa with Turkish baths and a Finnish sauna. To comply with Best Western’s standards, Vega’s monthly operating costs will go up by $143,000.
In a PR Newswire press release, Valery Maximov, GM of the Best Western Vega Hotel, stated: “As Russia continues to attract more business and leisure travelers, we felt it was a perfect time to join Best Western’s global family of hotels and take on its internationally recognized name and reputation. Our property has tremendous appeal to corporate and leisure travelers, and we’re confident that the brand’s loyalty club, Best Western Rewards, and sales programs will help attract travelers globally.”
There are now 59 hostels in the city, a number that has jumped by 30 percent in the last two months as 14 new hostels opened their doors in Moscow.
