Haute 100 Update: Beyonce Performs at Sold-Out NYC Show, the First of Four Intimate Concerts at the Roseland Ballroom

Last night, August 14, Beyonce took the Roseland Ballroom for the first of four sold-out concerts in her “4 Intimate Nights with Beyonce” series. Looking to give her fans a more personal performance with the 2,500-person capacity venue, the singer chose the Roseland over her usual behemoth stadiums for the series.

The NYC ballroom quickly filled up within seconds of the doors opening at 8 p.m. Come 10 p.m., the lights dimmed and the artist took to the stage to start her 90-minute set. She rocked the house with some Michael Jackson and some old Destiny’s Child hits, along with her own hit solos and songs from her fourth album, “4”.

All the while, in between costume changes and all the crooning in her magnificent voice, Beyonce definitely delivered on the intimacy with revelations and conversation with her rapt fans. She talked of love with hubby, hip hop superstar Jay-Z, and shared some more personal stories… with a tinge of diva flair.

Of her label’s skepticism toward her first solo album, “Dangerously in Love“, she revealed, “They told me I didn’t have one single on my album. Yep, I guess they were kind of right – I had five.”
