Date Change: Architecture + Design Museum 10th Anniversary Fundraiser Will Be Held In March

Orignially slated for September 10th, 2011, the Architecture + Design Museum Los Angeles will now be celebrating its tenth year of cutting edge exhibitions and progressive architecture and design programming at its annual fundraiser, on March 10, 2012. The salon style runway event at the museum was pushed back due to an overwhelming response from both committed participants and many additional exiting contributors wishing to participate.

The event titled “Celebrate 2012: The Wearable” will feature wearable creations provided by top creative talent from the realms of architecture, fashion, graphic, industrial and the visual arts. Donated pieces will be auctioned, with proceeds benefiting the Museum.

This year, key participants providing wearable pieces include architecture / furniture / fashion designer Karim Rashid; fashion designers Trina Turk and JC de Castelbajac; architect Richard Meier; street artist Chase; and culinary artist Wolfgang Puck.  Also providing wearables: architects David Hertz, Marmol Radziner and organic architect / author / speaker Eric Corey Freed; landscape architect Mia Lehrer; L.A. milliner Louise Green; architect / interior designer James Magni; and L.A. design house Sol Angeles.

There are no limits to design or materials; the possibilities are exponential.  The Museum encourages any object, garment, adornment or accessory including, but not limited to clothing, jewelry, shoes, hats, and wearable sculpture. Materials not traditionally used in fashion are also encouraged.

“We cannot wait to see what our design leaders and creative thinkers from around the world bring to this,” states Museum Executive Director Tibbie Dunbar. “We are so fortunate to have the kind of participation that will help us continue to offer the region high-quality exhibitions and events that explore and celebrate how design touches our daily lives.”

The wearables will be presented throughout the event, each displayed on its own live model in the main gallery.
