Snow won’t be the only white on the streets come Christmas time. Victoria Beckham has designed an amazingly chic white crocodile skin one-off handbag for high-end store Selfridges’ Christmas collection. This is not a bag for just anyone. Having been priced at a whopping £8,995 only one of the most elite will find themselves in possession of this gift, as well as the handwritten note tucked inside and penned by Victoria Beckham herself, come this holiday season.
The extravagant bag will not be found on PETA’s wish list though. “We appreciate Ms. Beckham’s rejection of fur and have approached her – 100 percent respectfully – over the suffering of lizards and other reptiles who are often skinned alive for fashion,” said a spokesman for the animal rights organization David W. Perle.
Selfridges did not seem disturbed by PETA’s requests as they excitedly displayed the crocodile bag as just one of the many luxe gifts revealed last Thursday as a part of the Christmas collection. Other items available include a wedding dress by Brazilian Daniella Helayel of Issa fame priced at £620, white silk underwear that display a real diamond by Nichole de Carle for £300 and a men’s double-breasted trench coat for £995 by Burberry. In addition to the many haute pieces Selfridges will also offer those looking to really get into the holiday spirit an £18,000 Advent calendar. This Christmas countdown calendar for the wealthy will present the owner with a piece of furniture containing daily miniature designer accessories such as beauty products and Christian Louboutin shoes.
Selfridges’ managing director Anne Pitcher gushed about the collection, “Our buyers have worked hard throughout the year to ensure this year’s Christmas collection is packed full of products to inspire and surprise our customers who travel from around the world to visit our store at this special time of year.”
