That infamous Jimmy Choo-induced shoe lust is no longer just for the ladies. After a phenomenal run of dominating the fine footwear sector with its magnificently crafted and painfully gorgeous ladies shoes, Jimmy Choo is slated to debut their first men’s shoe collection – to be available exclusively from Jimmy Choo stores – for the Autumn/Winter 2011 season at the Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
According to Sybarites, the anticipated collection will feature a mix of formal and casual shoes, as well as the expected statement pieces of the collection, like the “porno paisley” brocade evening slippers and head-turning lace-ups in electric purple and leopard. While descriptively this may seem loud, the aesthetic in actuality takes on a restrained elegance. Also to look forward to are refined monk-strapped shoes in chic matte black leather, shearling-lined biker books, sneakers – both low and high-topped – in a variety of bright colors and bold prints, skate shoe-inspired luxury slip-ons, as well as classy all-black sneaks and a stunning pair of gray flannel high-tops lined with luxe sheepskin.
Tamara Mello, founder of Jimmy Choo and Chief Creative Officer, explains of the Jimmy Choo-wearing man and the inspiration behind the new line, “My vision of the Jimmy Choo man is one who exudes confidence and style whether he is an artist or an investment banker. The first thing I look at on a man is his shoes.” After the grip the line has had on the ladies, it looks as if the same will go for the men. Fellas, you’ve been warned!
