Pharrell Williams Envisions His Youth Center With Help From A Miami Architect

With an established music career and as co-founder of clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream Footwear, Pharrell Williams has proved himself a visionary being. Inspired by devoted teachers who instilled a stop-at-nothing attitude within him, Williams intends to act as guiding light in his own project, creating The Pharrell Williams Youth Center, collaborating with Miami architect Chad Oppenheim, a luminary in The Magic City’s modern building design.

The two met at Art Basel in 2008, where they realized their manifestations blended perfectly.

Devised to be located in Williams’ hometown of Virginia Beach, the project has received endorsement from Kiehl’s, a natural and eco-friendly cosmetics retailer, who plans to support William’s charity From One Hand To Another, in the process.

Pharell Williams is knowingly ranked in the line of rappers who intend to spread meaningful music, which also transcends into his humanitarian efforts. His Youth Center, a unique structure of rectangular cuboids protruding from a mass of green, intends to operate as a safe haven for children with an artistic vision. The center will hold an array of departments spanning music, art, and research, with the idea of stimulating curiosity and exploration.

The environmentally friendly execution of the project will include using recycled materials and sustainable concrete, solar panels, utilizing geothermal energy, and growing indigenous plants that require low additional water needs. Plans for centers in other cities like Miami could be in the works if things run smoothly.

The Pharrell Williams Youth Center will create a refuge for young artists who will be given the encouragement to achieve their dreams.
