HAUTE VENUE: MORRISON ROOM ON SUNSET

Adam Newton already manages a famous LA venue, Duke’s on Sunset, but now he brings us another. Morrison Room, the new private event space just above Duke’s, gets its name and notoriety from Jim Morrison, who apparently used to live there.

The small flat consists of one open room with a balcony overlooking Sunset Boulevard and a quiet, outdoor deck in the back. The staple feature of the space is the bar, adjacent to a wall covered in photos, which pays tribute to music legends of the past with a collage of their famous mug shots. Contemporary décor, bold red paint, and antique light fixtures have also helped to reinvent the space, where some industry elites have already chosen to celebrate special occasions with a small party of notable guests.

Yet it’s not the facelift that makes Morrison Room one of the new haute venues in the city. It’s the thought of The Doors and other influential bands writing music and jamming on late nights that gives Morrison Room an irreplaceable atmosphere.

Morrison Room can comfortably accommodate about 100 people. For booking, just contact Duke’s.
