Dwyane Wade: From NBA to KFC

In the midst of a lockout, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade humorously reached out to his Twitter followers, asking, “Any1 hiring?”

The response he got sure was funny, but no joke at all. The backstory: Before Dwyane Wade became an NBA superstar, the Chicago-native worked at a local KFC.

Now the fast food chain is offering Wade a chance to come back.

KFC U.S. General Manager John Cywinski wrote to Wade with a proposition. Cywinski proposed that KFC would donate $250,000 to Colonel’s Scholars program, the company’s charity that provides youth in need with college scholarships, in Wade’s name. The catch: Wade has to earn it by working the drive-thru window.

“We’ve always been proud to call you a former KFC employee and, it goes without saying we’d love to have you back on our team dishing out the World’s Best Chicken, like you dish out assists on the court,” wrote Cywinski.

Will Dwyane Wade put away his “3” jersey and don a new uniform, one complete with a headset?
