Christian Louboutin’s Eight-Inch Ballet-Inspired Heels to Auction for Charity

Christian Louboutin has been celebrated the world over for his sought-after luxury footwear. The famed French designer has taken his portfolio to new heights after creating a pair of eight-inch tall ballet-inspired heels. Sporting the signature red sole and towering above standard heels at an incredible new height, the Swarovskiencrusted shoes are being auctioned off to raise funds for the English National Ballet (ENB).

The incredible feat of fashion is expected to raise over £50,000 for the ENB, and will be auctioned alongside other items from fashion figures including Erdem, Giles Deacon, Moschino, Roksanda Ilincic, and Julien Macdonald – who have all also donated ballet-inspired pieces for the auction, which are to be modeled by the professional dancers. According to the U.K. Daily Mail, the world-famous ballet company will be subject to cutting back performances and touring if sufficient funds are not raised.

With a tradition between ballet and fashion dating back to Coco Chanel and dance director Sergei Diaghilev in the 1920s, Louboutin was excited to be a part of the collaboration. He explained, “I could not help being inspired by English National Ballet… after all… isn’t the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel? The heel which makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, closer to heaven!”
