Sunday, July 31, the Village of Merrick Park is hosting their third annual Doggy Days of Summer event. From 2-6 pm, guests are invited to bring their canine companions for an afternoon bow wow.
The main event is a doggy parade at 3 pm in the garden. A donation of $5 gets your pet in the parade with a bandana to wear. Proceeds from the parade benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami, who will also be accepting donations of new items like bowls, leashes, beds and toys. A donation earns you a complimentary parking voucher.
Plus, each pooch will have the opportunity to win various prizes based on Best Attire, Best Personality and Most Appropriate Name, but only three will take home the honors. Participating restaurants and shops will be offering in-store promotions and, with any purchase of $25 of more, owners can take home a framed photograph of their pet.
Representatives of the Humane Society of Greater Miami will also be hosting an Adopt-a-Thon in which guests will have the opportunity to meet and adopt dogs from the facility.
So take your furry friend out for an afternoon of fun benefitting a good cause and you might go home with an armful of prizes or a new pup.
