Visceral Sculptures for Hope: Arturo di Modica Comes to Dubai

If you’re a resident of New York City you’ll be familiar with Arturo di Modica’s Charging Bull, a 1,700 lb bronze sculpture placed in Bowling Green Park near Wall Street. As the story goes, Di Modica spent around $300,000 dollars of his own money in order to have the sculpture created and placed in its current location just after the stock market crash of 1987. The piece serves as a symbol of the strength and power of the American people and is now visited daily by visitors who admire the work. Di Modica now make his way to the Middle East with new sculptural work in the form of wild stallions. Their strong visceral presence exudes the force and determination of Dubai.

Di Modica’s sculptures are large-scale and are renowned for their impeccable attention to detail. His subject matter often revolves around magnificent and at times abstract creatures from the animal world made in bronze, stainless steel and marble. He prefers to place his sculptures in public spaces so that their beautiful and fortuitous energy is accessible to all. Di Modica wants his work to inspire hope, determination and peace. At 70 year’s old the artist still maintains a youthful and optimistic glow. He resides between New York City and Sicily.

Arturo di Modica is currently working on several sculptures to be exhibited in public spaces in Dubai. He recently donated a small sculpture of a horse to the Brave Heart Auction which took place in Dubai on 31 May to benefit children suffering from heart complications. His piece was priced at  55,000 AED and sold for 83,000 AED.

The presence of Arturo di Modica’s visceral sculptures act like lucky tokens; they inspire hope, happiness and determination.
