Harry Winston on Track to Open in Dubai this Summer

In the immortal words of Marilyn Monroe in the 1953 musical film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” includes the spoken interjection “Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it!”

As Haute Living told you back in February, Dubai will be ‘told all about it’ this summer with the announcement that Harry Winston will be opening an its second outpost in the city with a new salon in Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel. It will be launched in partnership with Harry Winston’s local retail affiliate Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons, but will sell only Harry Winston collections.

The Harry Winston name is synonymous all that glitters and rarely is a red carpet event devoid of a Harry Winston piece. Some of the most famous starlets are adorned with Harry Winston pieces as they walk the carpet at the Oscars – the Rodeo Drive boutique lends celebs over $200 million worth of glittering diamonds, rubies and other precious stones to wear to the ceremony.

Known as “The King of Diamonds,” the jeweler has made a specialty out of acquiring big stones, including the Taylor Burton (named after a certain volatile couple), the enormous 337-carat Catherine the Great sapphire, the 95-carat Star of the East and the legendary 46-caret Hope Diamond, which the jeweller donated to the Smithsonian Institution.

As Dubai is no stranger to the odd knuckle duster, Harry Winston finds a perfect home in Emirates Towers hotel which also houses other high end jewellery houses such as Bvlgari, Cartier and Pommelato.

“We will start jewellery sales in the region with the new salon in Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel this summer,” said a spokesperson. “We have great expectations. Dubai is a very promising market and one of the key shopping destinations. It is the shopping window of the Middle East and of the world.”

The luxury five-star Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
