Gucci Guilty: A New Fragrance Pour Homme

Last autumn, the House of Gucci, a symbol of all that is modern luxury, introduced Gucci Guilty for Her, a fragrance for an iconoclast who lives life at full throttle- potent, spirited, unrepentant. Now we meet her partner in crime…

For the most modern of mavericks, Gucci represents a mix of excitement, power and sensuality in Gucci Guilty for Him, the latest fragrance conceived by Creative Director Frida Giannini who is the force behind one of the world’s most celebrated fashion houses. Fearless, with impeccable taste, the wearer of Gucci Guilty for Him is a hero of our age, his power resides in knowing that power is a game, and he is ready to play this game to the full.

Frida Giannini observes, “Everyone is in love with the Gucci Guilty man. He is a risk-taker, a thrill-seeker, yet he always remains sensitive to a woman’s desires. He embodies these desires. Men yearn to be him, women to be his.”

This week at the Gansevoort Park Avenue, I had the pleasure of meeting with Williams Andrews from P&G Prestige Fragrance Design Team at the London Innovation Center and Alan Ginsberg, Vice President of Education for P&G Prestige US who both worked with Frida Giannini in creating the fragrance. During my fragrance immersion, I was further educated on the creative design process behind the final product which is delicious, sexy and so Gucci to say in the least.

The fragrance is a cocktail of invigorating Italian lemon and mandarin with crushed green leaves- evocative of sap rising- and a defiant punch of pink pepper. The herbal freshness of lavender coils around an aphrodisiac cardamom note- at once stimulating and entrancing. The patchouli that is the hallmark of all Gucci scents is married with cedar and sandal wood gleaming with amber to create a robustly earthy, yet suggestively exotic sensuality of a profound masculinity. The effect is both remarkable and uncompromisingly alluring.

Second to the scent of the award-winning fragrance is the packaging. An arresting fusion of tactile metal and flint anthracite glass- its signature interlocking Gs a window onto a sophisticated light purple juice- the flacon will prove as covetable as the latest Gucci loafers. While it’s glossy black box completes an overall sense of refinement.

Giannini notes, “I wanted the bottle to feel like a contemporary objet d’art- to be as elegant to look as it is intriguing to hold.”
