Auction Napa Valley: An Intimate Dinner at Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars

As Haute Living gears up to celebrate another year as a participating media sponsor of Auction Napa Valley, we kicked off the weekend with an intimate dinner in the cave of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. A long and well-attended table sat a slew of Auction participants including Ted Baseler who recently acquired Stag’s Leap along with partner Piero Antinori, Stag’s Leap winemaker, Nicki Pruss, avid collectors, non-profit heads who will be receiving funds from Saturday’s main auction (which raises around $7 million annually, on average), Haute Living Media Group CEO, Kamal Hotchandani, and the like.

Guests enjoyed a five course wine-paired dinner prepared by master chefs Cindy Pawlcyn and Darren McRonald of Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, which included an exquisite quail dish paired with a 2007 FAY Estate Cabernet Sauvignon most recently, famously enjoyed by The Queen of England and President Obama.

Last night a different set of presidents and heads of industry enjoyed the wines, but the reaction was equally regal. Desert, coffee, and more wine were enjoyed in a separate cave from which a gigantic pendulum swung. Los Angeles-based entertainer, Morganne, who was also a guest, treated the group to an impromptu performance—a n experience that was only heightened by the echoing acoustics of the cellar.
