Right now the Miami Heat are scorching the courts with their white hot moves as they trudge their way through the battlefields of the Eastern Conference Finals. So where better than to showcase art featuring Miami’s b-ball stars than Gerry Kelly’s newest addition to the city’s sizzling nightlife Trio on the Bay in North Bay Village. The waterfront restaurant slash lounge will be a scene of White Hot Heat this Saturday evening, May 21. The night will celebrate an unveiling of celebrated collage artist Erika King’s Miami Heat edition of the NBA “Legends of Basketball – We Made this Game”, featuring a collection of historical NBA collages of current and past NBA superstars in Miami.
The works capture the electric energy that the sport’s elite players embody through vibrant images. The featured pieces will include such touted figures as Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and Gary Payton. Parallel to the exhibition will be a presentation of artwork including members of the NBA 50 Greatest Legends like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Julius Erving in addition to Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Yao Ming, Carmelo Anthony, and so many more.
This original series of 40″ by 60″ hand-painted works on canvas will also include NBA-brand logos hand signed by NBA Commissioner David Stern and the official logo and trademark of the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA).
Miami-based artist Erika King is internationally recognized for the collages she has created for celebrities and prevalent corporations like Blockbuster and Burger King using photographic images to illustrate a visual story of careers, event, or history of achievements. Proceeds from the sales at this event will benefit the NBRPA so come out and join Haute Living to show support for the past and present legends of an all-American game. Invitees include, Dwayne Wade, Tim Hardaway, Lebron James, and Alonzo Mourning. The exciting reveal will take place this Saturday, May 21, starting at 10 p.m.
