Haute Event: Vegas Uncork’d Kicks Off with a Champagne Saber Off

Las Vegas chefs and sommeliers celebrate the fifth annual Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appétit at the Bellagio.

Las Vegas chefs and sommeliers celebrated the kickoff of the fifth annual Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit — the four-day citywide culinary festival held each Mother’s Day weekend — with a dramatic Champagne saber-off in front of the Fountains of Bellagio at Bellagio in Las Vegas on Thursday.

Joining chef Julian Serrano, who performed the honors this year, were Bellagio President and COO Randy Morton, Bon Appétit Editor-in-Chief Adam Rapoport, Bon Appétit Publisher Pamela Drucker Mann and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Senior Vice President of Marketing Cathy Tull.

Among the nearly 50 chefs assembled for the festive occasion were Tom Colicchio, Joel Robuchon, Guy Savoy, Charlie Palmer, David Walzog, Pierre Gagnaire, Jose Andres and Scott Conant. Two dozen Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit events will take place through Sunday, May 8, at Bellagio, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Wynn and Encore. For details, visit www.vegasuncorked.com.
