Haute Event: MoMA’s Annual Party in the Garden Fundraiser

Last Wednesday, politicians, celebrities, and powerhouse businessmen like Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, and James S. Crown, chairman of First National Bank of Chicago, all headed to the Museum of Modern Art for the annual Party in the Garden fundraiser.

More than 700 attendees were welcomed by beds of red tulips and purple pansies and a reflecting pool that created a metropolitan haven inside the museum. Guests toasted with high spirits to the honorees of the museum’s Party in the Garden trustees: Mimi Haas, Sharon Percy Rockefeller, Jill Kraus, and Patricia Phelps de Cisneros.

Cisneros’ daughter, Adriana Cisneros de Griffin, graced the night by wearing a pastel peach and yellow dress by Marc Jacobs, while Kraus carried a red-and-black bamboo Dolce & Gabbana handbag. Cecile Perrin, wife of Cartier North America CEO and president Emmanuel Perrin, illumined the garden with a pair of Cartier orchid-shaped diamond earrings, encrusted with amethysts and blood-red rubies. Other guests included Henry Kravis, Senator Jay Rockefeller, and actress Leelee Sobieski accompanied by fashion designer husband Adam Kimmel.

Kanye West gave a stellar after-party performance. He opened up with a Stevie Wonder cover and stood 6-feet high on a small platform hovering over the crowd. The most exciting part of the night was towards the end when MoMA guests were taken back by Jay-Z’s surprise appearance on stage along side Kanye. In all, the event was a huge success and raised approximately $4 million.
