Still as popular as when the shoes were first made über famous by Sex and the City, Manolo Blahnik hosted an evening of Cosmos and canapés to celebrate the launch of their Spring Summer 2011 collection.
Taking place in Red Lounge, Manolo Blahnik’s SS11 collection launch was a perfect New York fairytale. Bathed in l’Artisan Parfumeur’s beautifully scented candles, guests watched the sun set over Dubai from the rooftop of the exclusive Raffles Hotel whilst talking about their favourite subject: shoes.
For Spring Summer 2011, Manolo Blahnik’s collection consists of three very distinctive groups. Inspired by the gardens surrounding his home in the Canary Islands, Manolo Blahnik’s Botanical collection is a celebration of nature’s bounty.
Colors and shapes are reflective of some of the more typical foliage and blooms found on his beloved island, with inspiration even found in the humble cauliflower. Rogozhin, Pietra, Aradylo, Mirto and Coliflor are all redolent of their associated flora, whilst in a nod to nature, Percha, Kahika and Netochka adorn the foot and leg, encasing it in a trellis of bright orange, green and pink blossoms.
Collars & Cuff, Belts & Braces, Pleated and Stitching are four further groups within the Spring Summer 2011 collection, testament to Manolo Blahnik’s revisiting of formal, antique and tribal costumes.
Of the event, Manolo Blahnik Regional Buyer Samara Punjabi commented: ‘The evening was the perfect tribute to a brand that is synonymous with sophistication and style. The ambience was magical, and a fitting farewell to our customers and friends who will shortly be disappearing for the Summer – all wearing their favorite Manolos of course!’
