Haute Event: L.U.C Chopard Classic Rally in Moscow

The ninth L.U.C Chopard Classic Rally was held in Russian capital over the weekend. Chapard Rally is one of the most anticipated events in Moscow’s social calendar marking the start of summer. The first ever L.U.C Chopard vintage car rally was hosted in 2003 (with only 11 participants). Ever since the event have been sponsored by the legendary watch and jewellery maker Chopard.

This year, 120 genuine cars (a record number!) both from Russia and abroad that were made before 1969 took part in the rally. The cars began in Tretyakovskiy Proezd and finished in Barvikha Luxury Village after going through a number of control points and completing the route tasks.

Expert driving and some excellent navigational skills were required. Among the participants were the following vihcles: Mercedes-Benz 290 Pullmann-Limousine (1935), Horch 853A (1939), Bentley Mulliner (1931), Bugatti Type 57 (1937), BMW 326 (1939), Jaguar XK 140 (1956), Ferrari 250 GTP Cabrio (1961) and the Maserati 3500 GT Touring (1963.

The awards ceremony and well earned after party gathered nearly half of Moscow beau-monde. It was a perfect opportunity for Russian socialites to show off their summer wardrobe. The invitees and winners feasted on shish kebab and pilaf with chilled white wine and later were entertained by Andrei Makarevich and his band performance. After the race, vice-president of Chopard Karl-Friedrich Scheufele personally showcased latest models of Chopard watches.
