Today I was invited by Lyss Stern of Divalysscious Moms to attend an event they co-hosted with Moms and the City. An exclusive selection of NYC’s taste-makers gathered for a special Mother’s Day Brunch at Centrolire, one of New York City’s amazing restaurants, to honor Christy Turlington Burns.
From fashion icon to activist, Christy Turlington Burns has successfully created a diverse and multi-talented career as an entrepreneur, role model and spokesperson in the fashion/cosmetic industry, women’s health and political spheres.
Divalysscious Moms truly knows how to throw a fabulous event. We were greeted to mini makeovers, massages, mimosas (momosas), beautiful photos, cupcakes and a decadent three course brunch. Christy shared with us what inspired her to direct her first documentary, “No Woman, No Cry,” which will be premiering on May 7 on OWN…The Oprah Winfrey Network. The film chronicles the global plight about Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) of pregnant women in four countries. Additionally, Burns has collaborated with Starbucks on a compilation CD, “Every Mother Counts,” inspired by the film and now available through May 9th.
It was was a wonderful pre-Mother’s Day celebration on the Upper Eastside surrounded by fabulous Moms. We were all truly inspired by Christy and her dedication to raising awareness about Maternal Mortality Rate.
